What I Want My Family To Know This Holiday Season

To boil it down to the simplest, most digestible terms – your homes and the neighborhoods you live in make me physically ill.

And if you are still wondering about the why’s, the how’s, and the impossibilities, I hope that you will take a sliver of your time to learn more about how toxic mold has harmed me. These are some good starter resources to build your understanding:

Although I have tried to visit you when I could, it has always been to the detriment of my health. I understand that my health needs are beyond what you can accommodate so please do not feel bad or frustrated for being unable to do so. I just ask for your grace and understanding during this difficult time. This year, I must honor my body and what it tells me to do, and that is to stay away from environments that make me feel ill.

This doesn’t come easy for me as anyone who knows me, knows the enjoyment, love, and satisfaction I feel being with my family. Being away from you all during the holidays because of my sensitivities hurts just as much emotionally as it does physically when I am hit by a toxic exposure.

So just know that like me, and many others, preserving and strengthening my physical health is only going to allow for my presence in the future. I politely ask for your patience and prayers as I continue on this journey of rebuilding my health and my life.

To many of those like me out there, I feel your pain. We’re going to get through this. Sending you lots of love during this holiday season.
